Our topic this half term will be about Castles. We will be exploring Castles in lots of detail looking at how they are built and why.
We will explore castle locations and discuss why they were built there.
We will also be learning about the life of Queen Elizabeth I, completing some non-fiction writing about her.
Information will be written in relation to these topics and children’s imaginative writing will be developed. Please encourage your child to practise their handwriting using our cursive script.
Within literacy we will also be focusing on grammar and developing knowledge of identifying nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs within sentences. We will also be encouraging pupils to extend their sentences using expanded noun phrases.
We will be continuing to explore number in great detail within Maths focusing particularly on multiple step word problems. We will also be focusing on data handling, looking at collecting data and presenting this information into graphs.
We will be developing our scientific knowledge of further animals we have not yet explored and will explore animal life cycles and food chains based on these animals.
Within PE we will be working with the large apparatus and on Friday afternoons we will be taking part in football sessions with our coach Connor.
Our PSHE work this half term is ‘Caring for the environment’.
