Summer 1 - Bears
This half term our topic is ‘Bears’, we will be focusing on the stories, 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt', 'Paddington Bear' and other bear stories.
On our first week back, we explored and celebrated Easter! We designed our own Easter eggs for a competition and explored many Easter activities, including creating Easter cards.
Every Friday Conor will be coming into school to work with Nursery to do football and other skills.
We have been very excited about our new outdoor equipment! We have aimed to spend any dry days exploring our new house and climbing frame.
Spring 2 - Mini Beasts
This half term our topic is ‘Mini Beasts’. We have explored a range of different mini beasts through exploration and investigation, including a bug hunt and studied the different features and habitats. We continued to promote our cutting skills, develop our finger muscles and extending our counting skills through themed activities such as, threading a spider web following the numbers.
Every Monday during this half term we accessed the hall, where we practised different skills, such as throwing and catching, with Ross and Ellie.
Thursday 7th March was our World Book Day, we came to school dressed as our favourite book character!
For our final week we have studied frogs! We had a visit from a science workshop and enjoyed learning through exploring!
Spring 1 - Space
Our focus this half term is ‘Space’. We will be exploring shapes as we make shape aliens and rockets with different 2D shapes and 3D foam shapes. We will be creating aliens in the play dough, our role play area and Small World Area will be turning into a Space Station!
The stories that will be our main focus linked to this topic are ‘What Ever Next?’, ‘Aliens in Underpants’, and ‘Toys in Space’, followed by lots of creative and educational activities.
The Cross-Curricular week this half term is PSHE and DT. This will be held week commencing Monday 4th February and our topic is Chinese New Year. This will involve learning how to say Good Morning in Chinese, exploring Chinese symbols for letters and numerals, creating Chinese Lanterns and learning about traditions followed and celebrations celebrated in China for New Year.
This half term we are focusing on Halloween, Bonfire Night, Nursery Rhymes and Christmas.
We will explore many different activities linked to Halloween and Bonfire Night. We will be designing and painting individual pumpkins using cardboard and on the Interactive Whiteboard, and creating firework pictures on the iPads, computers and on black paper using chalk.
We will be looking at Nursery Rhymes over the next couple of weeks and extending our number knowledge through many different activities e.g. ordering numbers to weave a web for Incy Wincy Spider.
We will also be rehearsing our parts and songs for our Christmas Nativity show and taking part in many different Christmas activities promoting our number recognition, mark making and cutting skills.

We would also like to welcome our new friends to our Nursery and school.
This half term we will be settling in to our new classrooms, new routines and getting to know each other.
We will be also be focusing on colour and shape.
