We would like to welcome everyone back to Seaton Academy after the half term holiday. We hope you all had a lovely break.

Thursday 7th March is World Book Day, so please bring in your favourite book to share with your friends! Also, children can come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book. There will be prizes for the best dressed in each class!

We are also inviting any Parents, Grandparents, Carers etc. to come into school to read to the children. If you would be interested in coming in to read a short story, please speak to your child’s class teacher. Any volunteers would be very welcome. In the past the children have really enjoyed parents sharing books with them. We are very keen to continue this, as the children see adults enjoying books too.

Scholastic Book club leaflets have been sent home this week along with a £1.00 book voucher, this can be used to buy books from the catalogue but can also be used at other book shops/retailers. Should you wish to purchase books from the leaflet, could orders be handed into the office (with the correct money please) by Monday 11th March. Thank you.

As in previous years once again school will be closed for 2 weeks at Whit. School closes on Friday 24th May at 3.15pm (12.05pm for Nursery) and re-opens on Monday 10th June at 9.00am (9.05am for Nursery).

Science week will be held during the week beginning 25th March, this year our topic is Transport. During this week we are having a visit from Primary Workshops, who present fun filled and action packed educational workshops. This should be an exciting opportunity for all the children.

This term we are supporting the ‘Team Evie’ reading challenge. This charity is raising money to fund libraries for children’s wards in hospitals. Further details and sponsorship forms will be sent out shortly, we really hope you will help us support this very worthwhile cause.

Some of our Year 2 children will be taking part in The Gymnastics final is at Penrith on Thursday 28th March. We wish them lots of luck!!

We are organising a Family Easter Bingo on Wednesday 17th April, in the school hall from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. Limited tickets will be on sale from the office on Monday 25th March.

Further details to follow.

The children had a great week, and enjoyed some great Chinese activities. It was lovely to see all the children dressed in red or Chinese clothes. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Chow from Hot Woks in Workington, who came into school to demonstrate some of his fantastic Chinese cuisine. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching him, and all got to try some of his delicious dishes!

Miss Richardson left us at the start of February to take up a new post and Miss Leggett is on maternity leave, we have appointed Mrs Sloan and Mrs Wood to cover in Year 1. Also, in preparation to cover Miss Hardman’s maternity leave, Mrs Midwood is teaching her class in Year 2.

Uniform can now be ordered online at: www.beschoolwear.co.uk.

Please can we stress the importance of ensuring that all uniform & P.E. kits are named. There is an increasing amount of uniform going missing, and it is impossible to return items to their owners if they are not named. Thank you for your help with this.

Please could we ask that children do not come to school wearing any jewellery other than a watch or small stud earrings. Any child wearing any other form of jewellery will be asked by their teacher to remove it. The item will be placed in a named envelope for parents to collect at the end of the day.

Please ensure that all long hair is tied back for school. If children arrive at school without their hair tied back they will be given a bobble to tie it back. This prevents the spread of head lice and is also for health & safety reasons.

The Academy closes for The Easter Break on Friday 29th March at 1.15pm (12.05pm for Nursery) and re-opens on Monday 15th April at 9.00am (9.05am for Nursery).

Following this the Academy is closed on Good Friday 19th April and Easter Monday 22nd April.
