This half term we will be finding out about our senses and bodies. In Literacy we will be making sure that when we write, our sentences have everything they need such as : capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks, question marks and conjunctions. In History we will find out about some famous people from the past that made a big impact upon our lives even today, like Louis Braille and Florence Nightingale... we will even find out what it is like to be blind and make our own names in braille.
In PE we will be learning a gymnastic sequence and Connor is going to be helping us to improve our football skills. We will also be looking at our environment, making observations about plants that are in our school grounds and observing how they change through the seasons.
This term we will be continuing to look at materials in science but finding out about how they can be changed. In literacy we are retelling stories using descriptive language and writing non-fiction texts in different formats. We are also having yoga sessions and extending our gymnastic skills in our P.E. lessons. We have started practising for our Christmas play which will take place in December, at the Carnegie Theatre in Workington and we will be very busy getting ready for Christmas in other ways too........designing and making decorations.
In numeracy we are working out change and other ways to make the same amount of money and in history we are finding out about The Great Fire of London and why Samuel Pepys buried his cheese!
This term in Geography we are going to be finding out about a country that is over 10,000 km away...........Kenya.....in Africa. In Science we will be looking at how elephants have adapted to live in their environment and why they are an endangered species. Hopefully we will become elephant experts !
In Numeracy we are going to be developing our understanding of multiplication and division and telling the time. Our computing theme this term will be coding where we will be writing our own programmes and debugging.
In Art we are looking are studying work by Henri Rousseau and mixing our own shades to create paintings of elephants and jungle leaves.
This term our topic is all about castles. In Geography we will be thinking about why castles have been built in certain places for example near a river or on top of a hill. In Science we will be asking our own questions about a topic and then doing our own research to find the answers. Also we will be visiting a historic site and finding out about how it has changed over time. We will be writing poems about Spring using different formats and focusing on using descriptive language.
In P.E. we are improving our football skills with Connor. In Numeracy we are measuring different weights and lengths and developing our understanding of multiplication and division.
Things are very different for us all at the moment. School is closed and we are all staying safely at home.
