“Educating our children with the skills they need to live fulfilling lives.”

Our Work

Autumn 2

This half term in Literacy we will be continuing to improve our sentences. ensuring we are using capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks, question marks and conjunctions. We will begin to extend our writing by writing in paragraphs, looking at the beginning, the middle and the end of stories. We will also begin to add description using adjectives and adverbs.

In Maths we will be developing our knowledge of money. We will look at coins and their values, add and give change using money and use different combinations of coins to make the same value, in a practical way.  We will continue to develop our mental Maths skills.

In History we will be learning about The Great Fire of London. We will look up information about the fire using non-fiction texts and create a timeline of these events. We will also produce some Great Fire of London Art work using collage, drawing, cutting and painting skills.

In Science, we will be exploring Materials and their properties. We will look at the suitability of materials and carry out some experiments to explore how materials can be changed.

In PE we will be doing Yogo with Bryony and developing a range of skills in Multi-Skills with Connor.

Autumn 1

Welcome to Year 2. It is lovely to see all of our children back in school. We have all enjoyed seeing our friends again and have spent some time reconnecting with one another and understanding how we're all feeling.

This half term in Literacy we will be making sure that when we write, our sentences have everything they need such as: capital letters, full  stops, exclamation marks, question marks and conjunctions.  In Maths we will be consolidating our knowledge of number by counting backwards and forwards, ordering numbers and completing addition and subtraction calculations.

In Science we will be finding out about our senses and bodies, why it is important to exercise and the functions of our major internal organs.

In History we will find out about some famous people from the past that made a big impact upon our lives, like Louis Braille and Florence Nightingale. In Geography we will be continuing to explore the world around us by completing map work and explore cities, continents and oceans.

In PE we will be learning a gymnastic sequence and Connor is going to be helping us to improve our football skills.
