Year 1 Learning Letter
We are all enjoying being back at school doing LOTS of busy jobs! We are getting to know one another and the children are settling into their new classrooms very well.
This term, we are writing captions, CVCs and sentences. We are concentrating on using a capital letter to start a sentence, a full stop to end a sentence, finger spaces between our words and trying to get our letters neatly on the line. We are also going to start our guided reading sessions, where the children will take turns to read as part of a small group each week with the teacher.
In Maths, we are counting forwards and backwards to 20, one more than, one less than and working out calculations involving the following symbols: + - = . We are also going to be ordering numbers.
We will send a note on Seesaw each week showing what our spellings will be, the children can then practice these spellings through the games set on Readiwriter. Reading books are sent home.
We are available for a chat, so if you have any concerns, questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact us.
