SPRING 2 NEWSLETTER – FEBRUARY 2020

We would like to welcome everyone back to Seaton Academy after the half term holiday, we hope you all enjoyed the break.

WORLD BOOK DAY CELEBRATIONS

On Friday 6th March to celebrate World Book Day, can children please bring in their favourite book to share with their friends! Also, children can come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book. There will be prizes for the best dressed in each class!

We are also inviting any Parents, Grandparents, Carers etc. to come into school to read to the children. If you would be interested in coming in to read a short story, please speak to your child’s class teacher. Any volunteers would be very welcome. In the past the children have really enjoyed parents sharing books with them. We are very keen to continue this, as the children see adults enjoying books too.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CATALOGUE

Scholastic Book club leaflets are attached along with a £1.00 book voucher, which can be used to buy books from the catalogue but can also be used at other book shops/retailers. Should you wish to purchase books from the leaflet, could orders be handed into the office (with the correct money please) by Wednesday 11th March. Thank you.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

The children had a great week, and enjoyed some great Chinese activities. It was lovely to see all the children dressed in red or Chinese clothes. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Chow from Hot Woks in Workington, who came into school to demonstrate some of his fantastic Chinese cuisine. The children thoroughly enjoyed watching him, and all got to try some of his delicious dishes!

STAFF UPDATES

Mrs Johnstone from the reception class retired at half term, we wish her a long and happy retirement. Mrs Hamilton and Miss Hardman both returned from maternity leave after the Christmas break.

UNIFORM

Please can we stress the importance of ensuring that all uniform & P.E. kits are named. There is an increasing amount of uniform going missing, and it is impossible to return items to their owners if they are not named. Thank you for your help with this.

JEWELLERY

Please could we ask that children do not come to school wearing any jewellery other than a watch or small stud earrings. Any child wearing any other form of jewellery will be asked by their teacher to remove it. The item will be placed in a named envelope for parents to collect at the end of the day.

LONG HAIR

Please ensure that all long hair is tied back for school. If children arrive at school without their hair tied back they will be given a bobble to tie it back. This prevents the spread of head lice and is also for health & safety reasons.

PICKING UP AND COLLECTING FROM SCHOOL

Could we please remind parents and ask you to tell anyone else who drops off or collects your child, NOT to use the car park at the front of the school.

Main school doors open at 8.50am, please STAY with your child in the classroom until the bell rings at 9.00am, school finishes at 3.15pm.
